Moldy Marvin goes to The Cub Scout Pinewood Derby 2001 Hosted by Pack 219 Burbank, CA P 2

This is what a Pinewood Derby Car Kit looks like... Ya just start with nothing but a Block of  wood ("Pine wood that is ah... duah") 4 regulation wheels and 4 regulation nails ta use as axels.   
Here are some examples of just wot ya can make with one of them Blocks of  Pine wood.  Pretty kewl !!!!! Pack 219's got it down.... 

Car Specification and Race Rules

Please note that rules are made to make the race fair and fun for everyone and remember there is no crying allowed in racing !

(1) Width: 2 3/4",   (2) Length: 7",  (3) Weight: Not over 5 oz., (4) Width between wheels: 1 3/4, (5) Bottom clearance between car and track: 3/8", (6) Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are prohibited.,   (7) The car shall not ride on springs., (8) Only official Cub Scout Grand Prix Pinewood Derby wheels and axels are permitted.,  

(9) The Car wheel base and axel placment shall not be altered from the pre cut in the Official Cub Scout Grand Prix Derby kit., (10) Only dry lubricant is permitted., (11) Detail, such as steering wheel, and driver are permissible as long as these details do not exceed the maximum length, width and weight specifications., (12)The car must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices.,

 

(13) each car must pass inspection by the official inspection committee before it can compete.  If at registration, a car does not pass inspection, the owner will be informed of the reason for failure and will be given time within the official weight-in time period to make the adjustment.,  (14) After final approval, cars will not be re-inspected unless the car is damages in handling or in a race., (15) After final approval, cars will be placed on display and not handled again until the car is called for a heat.
