MODIFICATIONS and PAINT:
(1) I made longer , tapered, and reshaped antenna from plastic coated wire and
plastic tubing. I used the antenna bases and tips from the kit to complete them.
(2)All seams were heavily glued, using a file or sandpaper all seams were worked so
no seams are seen. Even the wrinkles in the space suit material were worked back
into the plastic.
|
(3)His RAY GUN has an attached metal ring in the handle grips to attach pistol
straps. The pistol grips were painted IVORY.
(4)The flag pole was replaced with a straighter plastic rod. A wire pin was attachedto the bottom and a matching hole drilled into DINGBATS head to pin it to.
(5) I added a "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" tag to his parachute and vapor
leaking from his backpack rocket tanks. |
(6) You can't see it ...but I also added a "L" shaped pin into the back of
DINGBAT for the bottom of SCUZ FINK's left claw foot to fit on. With this pin and
the pin in DINGBAT's head and flagpole SCUZ FINK is stable and can still bemoved or removed from the base when wanted.
(7) The space suit was painted with a PEARL SILVER, then Silver Metal Flake, and
then topcoated with a catalyzed automotive clear ...it's slick ...and hard as nails.

(8)SCUZ FINK's skin, the base, and DINGBAT were painted with water based
acrylics, dry brushed with a lighter color to bring out the high spots , then coated
with and oil based walnut stain to bring up the low area details, and finally
topcoated with a matte finish enamel.
(9)The eyeballs, teeth, tongues, lips, finger and toenails were coated with a high
gloss fingernail polish to give them a wet look. SCUZ FINK's fingernails even have
the free edge of the nail painted a lighter color.
The background picture is oil pastel on black construction paper. It and SCUZ
FINK are both sitting on a glass tabletop.
GREAT kit! I loved building it. This was the 3rd one that I've built and this one is
goin' to stay with me.
Thanks Moldy! |
