Moldy Marvin's 8th Annual Rat Fink.Party & Kustom Kulture Extravaganza

A Big Thank You and A Little History About our Event

update 07/28/07

Hey folks, Moldy here,

First of all I want to personally thank each and every one of you for coming out this year. At the same time I must apologize if I didn't get the chance to talk to some of you on the day of the show but as you could see I pretty much had my hands full!

I also have to apologize about having the time to give out the awards for the show but the person who usually heads up doing the judges tally had an emergency at the last minuet and couldn't show up, so with that in mind I do have all of the judging sheets and will be sending out the awards via post to the winners. Once I get the list together you will be able to go to our "Thank you pages" and look under the award headings for a list of the winners.

The show was a great success this year and I will be up dating the website in the weeks to come with special Thanx and foto up dates so book mark our site and check in every once and awhile.

At this time I really don't know where we will be taking the show next year but once I know I'll let you all know and if any of you have any ideas please feel free to contact me

Here's a short run down about the history of this event.

Most of the shows that Ed was invited to, at the time we put this one together were  either Kustom or pre 62 events and Ed wanted to broaden the scope of things. If you look at Ed's art work, Ed appealed to just about everyone's likes.

The cut off date is for this event is 1973. The Extravaganza part of the title of this show came from Ed when we first came up with the idea. He wanted a Extravaganza of vehicles to show.

In fact, for the special interest class there is no year limit as long as the car or the vehicle is Kustom. Heck, Ed even put together a VW Class because he was a freak for rear engine machines.

The Rat Fink.Party and Kustom Kulture Extravaganza is most likely the most diversified event that I have ever attended. It's amazing to see what comes out each year. We don't segregate the classes like a lot of other shows, instead we use colored window classification sheets for the voting. That way if a club wants to park together they can.

Most people don't even care if they get an award, heck it's supposed to be a Party and they come for fun.  Everyone at this event seems to get along just fine because we all have something in common. Ya see the most important thing to remember is that we all Love Ed "Big Daddy" Roth and what he stood for.

It's the smell of Gas and Oil, the love of Art and Music and most of all the gathering of people who decided to step out of the box and hang out together for just one day to celebrate Ed's achievements.

The way I look at it. This ain't my show, I'm just the schlep in a stupid hat that puts the thing on and there is no way I could ever do this stuff without folks like you.  The vendors, the bands, the advertisers and sponsors, the folks that participate by showing their vehicles, the clubs, the spectators and most of all, the volunteers that help out each year.  This is your show and I thank you for it!

Another thing we try and do each year is to raise some bucks for folks both national and independent that are in need. There are several events out there that claim that they are producing the event for a charitable cause only to run short because of the cost involved of putting on the event. 100% of the proceeds from our charity auction go to the specified charity for that year.

In past we have raised funds for the following charities; Aids Project LA, Wild Life Way Station, Children of the Night,Kelli Jaunsen A.K.A. "Eccoblue", Shriners Hospitals, The Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Children's Cancer and The Antelope Valley Boys and Girls Club.

This years charity auction proceeds will be going to 16 year old Garrett Robinson and his family who live in Acton California .

On February 24th Garrett had an unfortunate accident while riding his dirt bike which left him as a paraplegic. This hasn't stopped Garrett and he has a great attitude!

Garrett's family has been slowly trying to convert their home to accommodate Garrett's needs but they need help with funding. We are still in the process of finalizing the total of this years Charity auction and we still have a few items for sale if you are interested in contributing just give us a call and well let you know what we have available. Call (661) 944-2299.

Update 07/28/2007

The total is in, we were able to raise $2,099.00 for Garrett between the charity auction, a donation from Danny Dean and a donation from the gate. Thank you to everyone who participated to the bidders along with our artists.!
